It’s been said that the ancient Romans may have first planted Syrah in Vienne, France, which is the appellation known today as Côte Rôtie. However, some historians believe that the varietal may have actually been cultivated by the Greeks some 500 years earlier than the Romans even did. Today Syrah continues to grow in popularity, and is planted in many wine regions around the world, such as United States, Italy, Australia, Spain, Argentina, South Africa, and even Chile.
Our 2014 Bella Piazza Syrah boasts aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and sweet oak, that lead to flavors of lush dark berry fruits and hints of spice, with a soft dry finish. This wine pairs nicely with soft cheeses, roasted game, grilled meats, or spicy pasta dishes.
